|The range of fine LISIO textiles offers a wide choice of decorative patterns in both velvet and brocade for the creation of period costumes to be used in historical reconstructions for film and theatre productions pageants or other historical settings.
In 2004 our velvet “Gigliato” was chosen by the costume designers of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre for its authentic reproduction of an Elizabethan period textile.
Then in 2005 the LISIO Foundation was commissioned to produce crimson velvet and gold galloons for the reconstruction of a gown owned by the Queen of Denmark, Sofia Mecklenburg.
Study of a XVI century portrait of the queen and a knowledge of contemporary weaving techniques enabled our experts to make faithful reproductions of both the velvet and the trim.
The gown, made by the Wichmann fashion house of Copenhagen, is on exhibition in the Central Hall of Kronborg Castle at Elsinore in Denmark since 16th January 2006.
