Basic weaving on the shaft loom - Teacher: Eva Basile
A course for learning the basics of weaving and how to weave ‘samplers’ on pre-prepared 4-to-8 heddle looms, to manage tensioning, shrinkage and shuttles, to repair broken threads and defects in the weave, to create impeccable selvedges.
Comparisons of the results obtained and the corresponding effects produced on industrial looms and at different reductions.
Having selected and purchased the materials they prefer; the students will have to opportunity to weave their own projects – runners or other items – on the hand-operated loom.
