Basic weaving on the shaft loom

A course for learning the basics of weaving and how to weave ‘samplers’ on pre-prepared 4-to-8 heddle looms, to manage tensioning, shrinkage and shuttles, to repair broken threads and defects in the weave, to create impeccable selvedges.

course length: 18 hours

MON-THU from 9.30am to 1.30 pm

FRI from 9.30am to 11.30am 

total cost: € 370,00 (materials and vat included)

+ Optional: afternoon workroom

available from Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 5pm and Friday from 11.30am to 1.30pm

The cost for each afternoon is € 10,00, to be paid directly to the Didactic Secretary.

A course for learning the basics of weaving and how to weave ‘samplers’ on pre-prepared 4-to-8 heddle looms, to manage tensioning, shrinkage and shuttles, to repair broken threads and defects in the weave, to create impeccable selvedges.

Comparisons of the results obtained and the corresponding effects produced on industrial looms and at different reductions.

Having selected and purchased the materials they prefer; the students will have to opportunity to weave their own projects – runners or other items – on the hand-operated loom.
