Signs and Designs: Fondazione Lisio in Taranta Peligna (Chieti)
Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio will take part in “Segni e Disegni, Trame e Monili Lungo l’Erbal Fiume Silente. Tessuti, Monili, Storia e Poesia d’Abruzzo. Taranta Peligna e l’eredità di Gabriele D’Annunzio”, an event taking place on Saturday, 19 September 2026 at 11.30 a.m., at Palazzo Malvezzi in Taranta Peligna (CH).
Promoted by the Associazione Tele Di Taranta, the initiative offers a journey through the art, traditions and culture of Abruzzo, bringing together the history of Taranta Peligna’s renowned blankets and the tradition of filigree craftsmanship.
These two traditions are deeply rooted in the local area and share a common ability to transform materials through knowledge and skilled craftsmanship: on the one hand, the weaving of woollen threads, and on the other, the creation of precious filigree objects. The event explores the traditions of the Aventino Valley and its pastoral roots, focusing on the languages, techniques and memories that have contributed to shaping the artistic and cultural identity of the region.
Among the speakers, Elena Baistrocchi, General Director of Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio, will contribute the Foundation’s perspective to a broader reflection on the value of textile and artisanal manufacturing as a heritage of knowledge, culture and identity.
The event will also bring together representatives of institutions, scholars, artisans, designers and cultural professionals in a dialogue between tradition and contemporary creativity.
Through different perspectives, the programme will explore the relationship between the territory, its artistic and artisanal production, and the legacy of Gabriele D’Annunzio, examining the symbolic and narrative value of local craftsmanship and traditions.
An opportunity for dialogue and exchange, the event highlights the importance of preserving and promoting artisanal and textile knowledge—not only as a testimony to the past, but as a living heritage capable of creating new connections between research, culture, design and innovation.
