On Tuesday, 15 September 2026, Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio will take part in the study day “Textiles and Technology”, to be held at the Textile Museum of Chieri as part of the celebrations for the patron saint’s festival of the City of Chieri.

The event, held annually as an opportunity for discussion and in-depth exploration of textile culture, will this year focus on the relationship between textiles and technological innovation, bringing together contributions that explore the dialogue between research, production, artistic experimentation and historical heritage.

Among the speakers will be Elena Baistrocchi, Director of Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio, with a presentation entitled “Technology and Textile Tradition: A Relationship Between Equals.”

In her presentation, Elena Baistrocchi will explore the dialogue between historical knowledge and contemporary innovation through the experience of Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio. The Foundation's activities bring together study, research, design and production, enhancing historical techniques while reinterpreting them in response to contemporary needs and possibilities.

The Foundation’s participation also forms part of its long-established relationship of collaboration and exchange with the Fondazione Chierese per il Tessile and the Textile Museum of Chieri, institutions with which it has developed shared interests over the years in the preservation, study and promotion of textile culture.

The study day will open at 3.30 pm with institutional greetings and will continue with presentations by Silvana Nota, art critic and curator, who will explore the theme “Between Art, the Traditional Loom and the Digital Loom”, and Giulia Panero, who will present the results of her research project “Sound Weaves”, exploring the encounter between textile material culture and sound technology.

As part of the event, Giulia Panero’s interactive art installation will also be presented, while the Museum’s Multipurpose Hall will be specially arranged with technical drawings of mechanical loom components.

As customary, the day will conclude with a guided tour of the Textile Museum and Textile Garden of Chieri.
