"15th-century clothing and fashions"

Chair: Sara Piccolo Paci

Renaissance. A word that evokes an entire world of art, science, culture, innovations.

New figurative languages and forms of communication were born and grew up during what is considered one of the most important centuries in European culture. But how much do we know about the clothing and the fashions of that period?

Body shapes and styles of dressing between the beginning and the end of the century are testimony to the Renaissance ferment of ideas and thought; together, we will see how clothing transformed through the period and how it succeeded in expressing the new needs of the men and women of the time.
