The Art of Tapestry Weaving is featured in the first two essays of this issue. The first one examines the Trecchi Collection in Cremona, through the estate inventories, that includes a series of 16th-century tapestries depicting The Voyage of Vasco da Gama. The second essay examines cushions, produced between the 16th and 17th century, with ‘tapestry’ covers featuring religious and secular subjects.

For the feature “The artist tells their story”, we read and learn about the experience of Rinalda Bonazza and the work she creates with the bobbin lace and knotting technique in an original combination of tradition, experimentation and quest for beauty.

To honour the memory of Prof. Giuseppe Scala, we are publishing his study on the dyeing substances found during archaeological excavations at various sites, such as Mavroraki in Cyprus and Arslantepe in Turkey.

Lastly, two projects have restored a fabric from the Arte della Seta Lisio to its original beauty, along with a small statue of Alfonso Maria de Liguori dressed in actual clothes, dating from between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, from a private collection.
